Our ward planned all of the camps to be on the same week this year. It was nice having them all over at the same time but a little crazy coordinating it. Rhett and the boys were the first to leave Monday morning, their camp was the longest, lasting five days. They went to Paris Idaho camp ground. Rhett was in charge of the whole thing. There was a ton of planning involved for 16 people, not to mention a ton of packing. The back of our truck could not have held another thing.
From what I heard, the camp was a huge success and Rhett had done a great job.
They went to the Paris ice cave. That is not a camera trick, the boys are standing next to a huge ice cycle that comes out of the ceiling to the floor.
In camp the boys made slings. They also made bow and arrows out of sticks. It made for hours of entertainment. They had a course set up kind of like frisbee golf. The arrows worked so good, some were hard to get out of trees.
The highlight of their trip was Bloomington Lake. The water was so clear you could see to the bottom. On one end you can see that tree that hangs over the lake, there was a rope swing tied to it. The boys had so much fun jumping into the water, Rhett decided to take a second day for the Lake.
They hiked to Paris Springs. They are all standing at the top where the springs start to come out.
Porter fancying up his breakfast. Sounds like the food at camp was a hit.
They took the tour through Minnetonka Cave. We also did this at our camp. It was neat to see, it was like a smaller Timpanogos. The best part was it was 40 degrees in there, a nice break from the heat.
Rhett wanted to do his own thing because last year when they went to Camp Tomahawk the boys didn't really complete any merit badges. This year the boys earned a lot of merit badges.
Porter is not 12 yet but Rhett took him along. He can start earning merit badges and at this rate will get his Eagle really early.
