Lindsey and I did not get into the lottery this year for the Little Red ride. We decided to sign up for the 100 mile Goldilocks ride. It has been a really wet spring so the week before the ride we were both feeling a little untrained to be doing the 100, we decided to try the 60. The morning of the race was a complete downpour. As we talked on the phone on our way to Butterfield Park. We decided we didn't want to bail but we might just do the 40.
Rhett and the boys had Father and Sons camp the night before and were nice enough to get up at 5 am to take me to my ride. So we got there and Rhett helped me unload in the rain. Luckily Bridger brought that red jacket for Lindsey to use because she only had on her jersey. They left us and headed to hang out with Resh and the kids.
Linds and I road over to the start/finish pavilion and had ourselves some hot oatmeal (we were just buying time but it was really good). It was still raining so hard but we decided we had to go for it. After being belted by the rain for the first few miles we decided the 20 was sounding just about right. We had a great time despite of being soaked to the bone and a little cold not to mention our bikes were covered with road mud and sounded awful. Glad we didn't give up completely. When we got back to the pavilion they were serving lunch. The sun started to break through the clouds a little. We sat and talked about everything while we enjoyed the sun. Fun day, thanks Linds.
